The Adventures of the Beautiful Llama
2017–Ongoing
The Adventures of the Beautiful Llama is an ongoing conceptual art series that unfolds over time, using the figure of the Llama as both subject and lens through which to examine the worlds of art, fashion, travel, politics, and everyday life. Rather than a fixed storyline, the series operates as an evolving inquiry, shaped by movement, encounter, and observation.
The Llama series exists across multiple mediums, including weaving, photography, tintype photography, and other interdisciplinary practices. Each medium offers a distinct way of seeing and recording experience, allowing the work to shift materially while remaining conceptually unified. The use of varied processes reflects the layered nature of perception, memory, and cultural exchange.
At its core, the Llama functions as a relational figure — an embodiment of curiosity, empathy, and openness. She moves through diverse environments, engaging with people, places, and situations as acts of connection rather than documentation. The Llama is less a character than a conduit, absorbing and reflecting the emotional, social, and political textures of the spaces she inhabits. Through her travels, the world is revealed not as a destination, but as an ongoing dialogue, where looking, loving, and listening become artistic acts.
